The World Sailfish Championship, presented by Bass Pro Shops, is proud to announce Howard Livingston and Mile Marker 24 as the opening act to this year's 2012 World Sailfish Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops.
This year's event will mark the 10th Anniversary of the World Sailfish Championship, the world's richest sailfish tournament. Accompanied by great entertainment, this year's kickoff party will include a U.S. Coast Guard Demonstration, a U.S. Navy Color Guard, the National Anthem performed by Hailey Steele of NBC's The Voice along with an F-5 military flyover provided by the NAS Key West VFC-111 "Top Gun" Adversary Squadron, call sign "Sundowners"!
Howard Livingston and Mile Marker 24 has become a staple in the Key West music scene. With a love of music dating back to age five, Howard has been entertaining thousands of fans for many years including a nationally syndicated television talk show from his home in Key West. After succumbing to his "Keys Fever", Howard made Key West his home and with the Mile Marker 24 Band, began chasing musical stardom. With five studio recorded albums and 50 all-originals, Howard and the Mile Marker 24 Band are familiar to playing in front of large crowds such as the World Sailfish Championship.
When asked about his involvement in the event, Howard had this to say, "I have always been a longtime admirer of the WSC (World Sailfish Championship) and what it has done for, not only Key West, but charities on both the local and national level. I am very excited to perform and be a part of the ten year anniversary."
"I would like to thank Howard and Hailey for the generous contribution of their time and talents in helping to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the World Sailfish Championship," said Christopher King, Chairman of the World Fishing Tour. "Both are unique artists that share a love for music as well as a love for helping others."
The concert will be free and open to the public with encouraged donations benefiting the Key West Rotary. The Key West Rotary will be on hand selling food and drinks to those attending. The festivities are scheduled to take place on Tuesday April 17, 2012 in Mallory Square beginning at 6:45pm.
The World Sailfish Championship is the third stop of the highly acclaimed Sailfish Pro Series, which airs on NBC Sports. The World Sailfish Championship has raised over $2M for charity in the last nine years, and pays out - each year - over $1,000,000 to winning teams. The World Sailfish Championship descends upon Mallory Square and Key West April 17-21, 2012 and is expecting over 400 anglers - both professional and amateur - to partake in this year's event along with thousands of spectators and passersby. World-class fishing and entertainment aside, the World Sailfish Championship's unwavering commitment to raising money for various charities make this a win-win event for all. This year's charities include Kettle Comfort, a nonprofit founded by Outback Steakhouse Co-Founder, Tim Gannon, to feed hungry children, and the Key West Rotary.
